Chimps love babies. When a baby is born in the chimp community, it causes a lot of excitement. Older chimps are very patient with the playful youngsters. They even let the babies jump on them!
Baby chimps drink mother's milk and share her nest until they are 4 or 5 years old. They remain close to their mothers throughout their lives. Just like human babies, chimp babies grow stronger and smarter by playing and exploring. |
